Enchanting Vivid Saturation of Kodak Ektachrome E100VS

Just like its initials, EVS (Ektachrome Vivid Saturation), this is the perfect slide film to shoot everyday objects into beautiful x-pro colors.

I’m very late trying this enchanting vivid saturation of Kodak Ektachrome E100VS slide/positive film. Thanks to my Canadian bestfriend who I haven’t met, Andrew Nash a.k.a. @druid, who gave me a chance to try this amazing film. Wanna know more about this film on mine?

My first adventure with this film happened on Ramadhan month, one month fasting for Islamic person. I did a self-Lomowalk around Tempat Pemakaman Umum (Cemetery for public) Pandu, Bandung, Indonesia.

The hot hot sun at shiny noon are just perfect lighting for this film. As the sky lover, I shot the peaceful blue sky and cozy white clouds, and my hopes that it will turn out with great saturation came true.

It seems like I’m very focused of anything around me. When the noise of the airplanes were behind me, I shot to the sky.

I just kept walking and was feeling fun even though it’s very hot noon and I did fasting. It took me to the railway near the train station of my hometown. When the train was passing through, I shot it excitedly.

Normally I dislike little boys. But this bunch of little stranger boys forced me to take their photo. I don’t know why I shot them again and again. This film is magic.

Very satisfied with the first and second result of the roll, it made me wanna do something more with my Kodak EVS. So I tried @hodachrome ’s signature technique, exposing both sides (EBS), with the first shoot a vocalist grandpa who covers Mick Jagger insanely. I D.I.Y. redscale the film after, and then I shot the river.

Kudanil (African Hippopotamus) is quite hard to shoot with a great pose in Kebun Binatang (zoo) Bandung. When visiting the zoo on the lonely afternoon, I just got lucky to get his mouth open widely. But frankly I didn’t like the color, maybe because the sun didn’t shine brightly at that time? I don’t know.

On the way back home after watching a Fariz RM gig, destiny took me to the midnight street market on jalan Rajawali. I just lucky because the angkot (public transportation) driver took me here after he took the other passenger who paid him more to take them near to this location. So I get down from the angkot and take a walk to jalan Pasteur to catch the next public transport to take me home. I have never been here before. And the fresh meat and vegetables made me want to shoot it with the Kodak EVS that is still inside my Horizon Perfekt. It’s my first night time shoot with this film.

So far I love to shoot blue color with this film. Besides that it’s my favorite color, it always produces different blues on every Kodak EVS film that I ever shot.
