A Whale of a Time with Lomography Orca 110!!!!

I was super excited when Lomography started selling 110 film, as it meant I can use my Pentax 110 more! I shot my first roll in Manchester, Blackpool and Sheffield over the summer. Read on for my review!

Although these photo’s were taken over the summer, its been pretty cold and dull here in the UK, so I haven’t used this film as much as I had hoped. At 100 ISO, its a pretty slow film, which is great in terms of the quality of the photos, but not ideal for the UK weather conditions. Or so I thought!

The photos above were taken on a really dull day, but as you can see, they have come out well despite the lack of light! I was quite surprised about this, as I expected at least some under exposed shots. As they were taken using an SLR camera, I obviously adjusted the settings to accommodate the lack of light, but was still pretty surprised with the results.

However, this film really comes into its own in in bright conditions. The above shots were taken on a bright, sunny day and as you can see, the photos have a lovely tone to them and hardly any grain. The tonal range is great and gives the shots real depth.

I also love the fact that you can switch this film part way through. It means you lose one frame, as this gets exposed when you remove it from the camera, but it gives you versatility to switch to Tiger or another colour film.

This is a great and versatile film, which I will definitely be using more of, even throughout the winter!

As a B&W film user, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Orca 110 film. I used a Minolta 110 Zoom, and developed in Ilford Microphen for 6 1/2 minutes.
