Diana+ 38mm Super-Wide Lens: Lovely Perspectives

Perhaps the very best accessory for the Diana -- the 38mm Super-Wide Lens is a must-by if you like photographing buildings, want to embrace large spaces or if you like nice, strong perspectives.

At first, of course, I was totally enchanted with the gentle, intimate approach of the basic Diana objective. It is excellent for grabbing little things, smaller details and simple scenes. But since I love photographing the cityscape — streets, buildings, squares, courtyards etc. — I soon started longing for a nice, wide-angle objective. At my local Lomostore I was recommended the 38 mm Lens, which I instantly bought. It was an excellent choice.

It has a breathtakingly large angle of view and grabs perspectives beautifully, without much distortion. If you want to grab reality and do not wish to have the surreal vision of a fisheye lens, it is definitely the lens to choose. Being a wide-angle lens, it also have a shallow depth of field, which makes it extremely forgiving to the distance settings. You, of course, should pay attention but not much.

While your machine will take beautiful photos with this lens, the genuine Diana feel is still preserved — you get a very similar result to the original lens, only on a wider scale. The contours are a bit clearer, most probably not to spoil the wide-angle feel with oversmudged edges. All in all, the practical and the romantic considerations have been perfectly balanced.

Although as any Diana objective, its proves its best on roll film, it still can provide you with nice, wide-angled photos with the 120mm back — especially if you use one of the panoramic masks. This way you can have almost the same angle of view — on a narrower picture, of course.

The classic super-wide perspective is a favourite of street photographers and photojournalists the world over. Make your images scream with detail and get the distinct Diana+ look of vignetting and dreaminess with the Diana+ 38mm Super-Wide Angle Lens! Don’t wait – get your own Diana+ lenses in our Shop now.
