Thoughts on Using Agfa CT Precisa Expired

A few weeks ago, I bought some rolls of recently expired Agfa CT Precisa. Here are the results when they are developed normally. Although the film was expired, the photos that resulted were outstanding.

A couple of weeks back, I bought from a local photography store 3 rolls of Agfa CT Precisa expired slide film. Although the film was expired for about 5 months, the results were outstanding. I loaded my Kiev with it and started shooting.

The ultra fine grain this film produced, doubled with the fact that it was an expired slide film, made my day after I got it developed.

I took pictures of everything—from my girlfriend to cars, and a square in the center of Bucharest (random photos so I finish my slide and get it developed). This film is perfect for day and night photography because of its low ISO, 100. It’s also perfect for prints; because it’s slide film, it can be enlarged much more than a regular color negative film.

The expired Agfa CT Precisa, developed in E6, fills the photo with a yellow tone, sharp images, and natural colors. It also provides a vintage effect of the exposure without the need to use any editing software. It does not produce contrast loss pretty much, because it was stored properly in a fridge, and because the film was expired for only 5 months.

I bought this film because it’s cheap and because I want it to experiment with it a lot, and also to cross process it, but that’s a different discussion.

The first roll of CT Precisa I shot was overexposed. I got only 7-8 shots perfectly scanned, the rest was a bust. By the way, I didn’t tell the clerk at the lab that I had the film developed that it was a slide film so she didn’t bother to check it and directly developed it. I was very excited even though the second time caught me.

Basically, the pictures that came from this film after cross processing are more blue. I love blue. I also love the vignette in it. I loved the results and I will shoot another roll as soon as possible. I will remain faithful to this slide film. The examples are speaking for themselves.

The AgfaPhoto CT Precisa captures your memories with exceptional colour rendition and is ideal for sunny outdoor adventures. When cross-processed, you will see an overall colour-shift as cool blue tones envelop your images. See the whole range of colour slides in our Shop.
