I got some expired True Colors film from my friend. It was cheaply sold for 30 pesos -- a little short of $1 USD. So I tried these films in different cameras and I got exciting results. Although I was expecting that the color shifting won't do much of a hassle, the colors in these expired films came out different. The film was imported from Italy. I don't know how many films of these are still out there but it's a nice way to hunt out!
True Colors films are made in Italy. They are somehow outdated today, but sporting a 200 ISO, it can be used as a daylight film down to dusk or flash photography. I got the films from Roxas City, Capiz. There’s this small photolab where they sell these outdated and expired films. For 30 pesos, I took five of the films and tried it on my different cameras. First, I used it with my Lomo LC-A+ RL camera. The colors were somehow a little faded, some photos looked a little like redscale, and some have this violet tinge of hue. The greens don’t come out really well especially if it is used with an automatic camera like the Lomo LC-A.
Here are some of the photos that I took using my Lomo LCA+ RL. Notice how the purple and violet colors dominate the color hues in each photo.
For the second time around, I used the film through my SLR camera. I was hoping that I could get correct colors out of this one by overexposing the film. So with my camera set at 100 ISO, I used this expired film and was surprised of the result. Somehow, the colors may seem to be faithful but with tinges color violet still lying in the picture. At least, the colors are now popping out instead of getting a majority of purple or violet colors in each photo.

Most of these expired films were used in my Olympus Mju II camera. It’s also an automatic camera and you cannot adjust the ISO settings. The exposure that it will take will always be of correct exposure depending on how light is needed. To finalize, this film is really…expired. The colors were like passed through the X-ray five times that some of the colors didn’t appear anymore. On my first development with this film, I somehow frowned but practically embraced the imperfection of this unpredictable film. Some of the shots were a lot like cross-processed too.
