I always buy my rolls of film on the Internet, and when I saw this Mystery 400 Speed B&W Film being announced on Etsy, I knew I had to give it a try!
In the city where I live, it’s very difficult to find different kinds of film to experiment with my analogue cameras. Even when I find something interesting, it turns out to be crazy expensive. Searching the Internet, I found out that the best place to buy film is definitely online. I always get good deals on eBay and Etsy.
A couple of months ago I was looking for films on Etsy and saw something I have never heard of being announced: Mystery 400 Speed B&W Film. The girl that was selling the film said that she had some rolls for quite some time, but even shooting a test roll she had no idea who manufactured it, or when it was made and expired. It was a total mystery!
What really convinced me to buy the 5 rolls was the results of the test roll the girl took before selling them. It worked quite fine, but on some areas of the film, it showed ghost images from the backing paper. I loved the idea of the special ‘defects,’ so I bought them and waited anxiously.
I went on a trip with some friends a couple of months ago and decided it was a good opportunity to shoot one roll of my new mystery film. I decided to make my first try on my dear Holga 120 CFN (the first toy camera I got) and these were my results:
It sure is a shame I won’t be able to get more rolls of this film once I shoot the 5 I already have, since they apparently are unique. But I must say it was a great buy! I highly recommend you people to buy mystery films if you get the chance to come across them…they will surely blow your mind!
