Kodak Portra 160 NC (35mm): Life-Like and Dreamy

Here is a review In which our hero absolutely gushes over this professional grade film, or nothing but good things to say about Kodak Portra 160 NC (35mm).

If I could only shoot with one color negative film ever again, it would be Kodak Portra 160 NC. Yes, that’s a bold statement to make. But, it’s a fact.

Simply put, Kodak 160 NC produces gorgeous, vivid, life-like colors that give images an aesthetic quality that is difficult to put into words. Maybe life-like is the best phrase I could use. The pictures just feel alive. Add to all this a fine grain and moderate ISO and you’ve got a versatile film that can capture well, even in not so bright situations.

There’s another reason I’m so enamoured with this film. It makes a great DIY redscale film. The results one gets with it are almost dreamlike. Now, since it’s such a low ISO you’ll have to shoot even lower to get more light in, but if you’re equipped to shoot at 25 or thereabouts I’m sure you’ll enjoy the results.
