The Plus in Ilford FP4+ 125

There's always a "plus" in everything, but this time I just want to review a big plus in one of my favorite black and white films: the Ilford FP4+ 125.

It seems so rare to find an llford FP4+ 125 in Indonesia. Luckily, I got to try 2 rolls of Ilford FP4+125. One a fresh and the other an expired one.

First, let’s talk about the fresh one first.

Can you the detail in every photo above? well, that’s the plus! I just love the fine grain that this film yields. I took these shots using my father’s Canon AE-1 and paired it with a wide-angle 28mm lens. Nice and simple!

Below are some shots I took during daytime. It was a really sunny day but still you can get the pure black and white pictures with fine grain. Oh yes, another “Plus!”

Now, Let’s talk about the expired one. I forgot when it expired but back then, I decided to put the expired Ilford FP4+ 125 in my compact Olympus Pen EE2. It’s a half frame camera but I decided to scan them as single shots.

The expired Ilford FP4+ and pair with the Olympus Pen EE2 gives me a bit of grainy black and white shots, I love grains! Yes to grains! I really enjoy shooting with half frame cameras. I got 72 shots from Ilford FP4+ 125. Oh, life is good!

The shots above give you a different view from other shots using Ilford FP4+ 125. What can I say? Who said using this film is predictable? That’s the cool thing about using black and white films. Different cameras produce different results too. So, let’s have fun with black and white films and enjoy the “Plus” in Ilford FP4+ 125! It’s a big plus, eh?

Unrivalled when it comes to high quality B&W photography, the Ilford FP4 Plus is a great choice for enlargements with its fine grain, high acutance and exceptional sharpness. Check it out with the rest of our black and white film selection.
