DigitaLIZA 135 Film Scanning Mask: Digitalize This!

Do you know how to make a sandwich? If yes, then using the DigitaLIZA 135 Film Scanning Mask will be a piece of cake to use for scanning your sprocket holes and panoramic images or just your everyday images!

After attempting to have my first Spinner 360 roll scanned at my photo lab I soon realized that it was not going to happen the way I wanted it to, so I ordered a scanner and went and bought the DigitaLIZA. These two purchases were possibly the best decisions I have made (well besides purchasing my cameras that is) and I have never looked back!

So once you have your developed negatives and your scanner you are ready to go. The DigitaLIZA can takes up to 6 negatives, so cut up your negatives as appropriate. The Spinner is only 4 (sometimes 5) negatives long so cut them out as full images; never cut through an image, because as hard as you may try, they are really difficult to match and stitch together perfectly.

The DigitaLIZA is made up of three parts: the plate, the bagel, and the cherry on top! Your negatives become the filling! Place the steel piece (the plate) down first, the black mechanism that opens and closes (the bagel) is next. Open it. Place you negatives face down and use the last piece (the cherry) to secure the negatives. Next, close the bagel. Everything should be one piece now that you can pick up without it falling apart.

Now, if you’re anything like me, the cherry gets eaten first, so remove it, lift the bagel from the plate, and take a delicious bite (place it in the scanner).

I have a Canoscan 5600F and it is necessary for me to scan a preview with the scanning mask it comes with before starting with the DigitaLIZA. Once it has previewed, just line up the DigitaLIZA and maybe put a piece of tape there so it is easy to see each time and you are ready to scan.

Another issue you may come into is with 64 bit machines; they like to re adjust the light for every new negative and this may throw up an error message, and thus, not scan. I don’t know how to solve this so I just scan on a 32 bit machine.

So now, wait whilst your images scan, and seeing as you are waiting, you might as well go make yourself a delicious sandwich!

The DigitaLIZA 35mm Scanning Mask holds your 35mm negatives in place so you can scan them, sprocket holes and all! Be your own boss when it comes to scanning 35mm negatives, giving you ultimate control over your images! Visit the Shop and get your very own DigitaLIZA 35mm Scanning Mask.

Aaaah, when I read this, my will to own a scanner for my negatives has really increased... but, with Canoscan 5600F you can only scan 35mm films or even 120??

@kien85 the trick i find is to scan a roll of colour negative film wit the scanner driver open, then in advanced mode go to image settings and press apply - then put in your xpro negs and scan them with the previous settings and you will get similar results, otherwise i scan them on monochrome to which the go more blue in colour

@zatto yes you can only scan 35mm film with this scanner unless you stitch images together so i would suggest the 9000f - i just sold my 5600f for one and its brilliant!

@kien85 when you open the mp navigator programme that comes with the scanner you choose film, then it says scan but there is a tick box above the scan button that says use scanner driver - open that.
