Lomography CN 800 120: Keep Your Diana+ Happy!

Lomography's 120 format color negative 800 film is full of color with a noticeable but pleasant grain. It's great food for Dianas, and it's fast become my go to film for moderate light shooting with my little blue beauty. Regardless of the subject, I know I'll be happy when I load this emulsion!

Lomo CN 800/120 is a versatile film for all those light hungry toy cameras that we Lomographers cherish. The colors are surprisingly rich and true for such a fast film.

The grain is of course noticeable at ISO 800, but it has a pleasing quality that gives photos character without drawing too much attention. Maybe it’s the difference between medium format and 35mm, but I actually find the grain less obvious on 120 than I do on the smaller format.

It’s quickly becoming the default color film for my Diana+, as it seems perfectly suited to shady hikes and flash photography.

I find the color to be quite accurate, and it benefits from warm light as it can tend towards the cooler side.

The dynamic range is also quite broad, another quality uncommon in some faster films. I love to shoot right into the sun and see how much it captures!

And as you can see, it’s awesome for doubles . . .

Scanning is straightforward, as it keeps only a slight curl. Although that last bit of curl is hard to remove and I sometimes find myself fighting Newton’s rings while scanning. A small price to pay for such easy colorful results.

In summary, Lomography CN 800/120 is a must have film to keep you prepared for all those times when you can’t shoot in full sun (and some of the times that you can). Keep a roll or three handy, and your Diana+ will thank you!

The Lomography Color Negative 120 800 ISO film is a high-speed medium-format film designed to bring a burst of vibrant color, as well as great saturation and contrast, in all lighting conditions! Shoot in bright sunshine, grey days, indoors or at night with a flash. See our selection of Lomography films here.
