The Braun Paxina

2

We found this nice old camera at my parents-in-law’s place. I loaded it with a black & white film and took it outside for some test-shots.

The Paxina was built in 1959 by the Braun-Company in Germany. It’s a viewfinder camera that uses medium format film (120 film) .The Paxamar Achromat lens is located in a square pull-out (and push-back) bakelite lens tube.

It has a selector for three different aperture masks (f7.7, f11, f22). Another selector on the lens board allows choosing between shutter speeds 1/100sec, 1/30sec, and B (bulb). The shutter release is hidden behind the lens board, and you can do single, double, or multiple exposures. :-) Turn the front element for focusing from 1 metre to infinity. On top you find the film advance knob as well as the film-roll release knob. In the top of the camera you find the optical viewfinder.

Built in 1959, this beautiful camera is still in pretty good shape and works very well.
