Lomography Actionsampler: 1 year after

This is the first lomography camera I ever got, and I can say that this was the kickstarter for my analogue photography addiction. This camera also gave me my most popular pic here on lomography.com

Well, my girlfriend gave me this camera as a birthday gift exactly 1 year ago. At that time I had already been messing around with film photography with a Canon A1 I inherited (actually, I saved it from being thrown away) from my father, but didn’t know exactly what lomography was, or any of the special things one can make with film.

I can say that, with this camera, it was love at first sight. At the same moment I got it, I loaded some kodak color negative film and started shooting. the next day I took it outside on a bright sunny day and finished that roll. Then after developing the film, came the disappointment: it is a very light hungry camera, almost half of the pics i took, were underexposed or didn’ t had anything at all. On the other hand , the pictures that came out, came out great!

Then, after I took some other shots, other rolls of film, I decided to try some slide film (Kodak Elitechrome) in it, and the results were really awesome:

I was so happy with these results, that I took this little cam to the beach trip with another roll of Kodak Elitechrome, but this time it wasn’t that great, the day was way too sunny, and everything came out overexposed

And here are some pics I took with a film I found inside an old broken camera, that came out weird

One thing I like to with the actionsampler is taking pictures of things trying to form patterns:

Pros and cons of this camera:

Pros:

- small and lightweight (I carried it in my backpack for a long time)
- 4 lens fun!!!
- different
- It’s cheaper than other lomography cameras
- it’s easy to get creative with this camera

Cons:

- the camera structure seems kind of weak (but I’ve never had a problem with that so far)
- it’s a lighthungry camera (ISO 400 recommended)
- can’t take night photos

Also, with this camera I took my most popular picture here at lomography.com. Even though it never won a competition, it has almost 100 likes! And here it is:

It’s a very fun camera and a great way to start in lomography. Also it works as a perfect gift for a photography-enthusiast friend

You have inspired me to put a roll of film into my Actiosampler and go out shooting.
