When it comes to Lomography, Cheap is always best!

Lucky Super 200 -- An amazing 35mm Colour film for the price!

Just when I was venturing in to the wonderful world of Lomography I quickly realized that its not a cheap hobby… developing and scanning cost and GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) Addiction can quickly mount to a considerable amount of cash. I was looking for a cheap alternative to the pricey hard to find 35mm film. While doing online surveys I came across this cheap Chinese wonderful film… “Lucky Super 200”

To test it out, against my better judgment I ordered 2 packs of 10 rolls from A South Korean seller I found on Ebay. Took about 2 weeks to arrive. As for the price of the film I wasn’t expecting it a kick-ass result and colors like those expensive slide film photos you see on the site, but I was pleasantly surprised. I loved it so much that carried a lot of it to our holiday in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka. You know how confident you have to be about the film to risk your holiday photos. And also one more thing, I took it out for security X-ray machines least and it was fine :D

It’s a wonderful film great during the day but its really shines in the low-light. Don’t expect it to be an ISO 400 film but its great for the 200 ISO. It’s a bit grainy when it comes to night shots. The colors are great.

It’s gives this slightly bluish tones to the photos which I really like. Reds and yellows are punchy and brilliant. Blues are amazing.

It’s a great film for outdoor sunny days…
…and works brilliantly in low light.

Next thing I’m gonna try is make a homemade redscale film out of this. I have a very strong feeling it would be good. If cheap price is the last thing on your mind when it comes to your Lomography still this is a great film. Colors are great and it works really well on a good sunny day, you won’t be disappointed on a cloudy one too. I haven’t tried cause here in Dubai we have bright sunshine 11 months a year. but give it a shot it will be worth your while. I will definitely order this film in the future by loads.

So go ahead & shoot some great pictures, I guarantee you will get Lucky :D

P.S.

If you try and loved this film give it a shot to its classy b&w sister Lucky SHD100 its a amazing b&w film…but that’s another review for another day.

i love lucky 200s! they're fairly common here in the philippines and I've read a lot of rave reviews from lomographers . sadly, my stash has run out so i have to go get some more. hopefully, the shops here have the expired ones because they are SUPER cheap (50php or >1USD/roll)!
