Canon A2e - An excellent SLR camera I bought off eBay!

When you pickup Canon EOS A2E for the first time, you realize this is no ordinary camera. Its one of the best film cameras ever made. Its built solid & has a loads of functions available in professional cameras. Until a few years ago professional photographers used to shoot with this camera.

This great SLR camera was released in 1987 world over. In the US its know as Canon Eos 5. It was sold as a pro-sumer camera, but a lot of pro photographers used it regularly for their assignments.

One of the most interesting custom function I found is, when rewinding it retains the film leader just about an inch…just enough if you wish to re-shoot it. You can take lots of multi-exposures, It has a built in function that you can take up to 9 multiple exposures. Another function I found amazing is that there is that it has exposure compensation. You can over expose or under expose using a dial on the camera back up to 2 stops, 2 stops that can make your back-lit subjects looks great. It has a built in pop up flash which is pretty good. Canon A2E is has a gold mine of functions and creative modes.

Best part is since its a Canon EOS mount, I can use all my EF lenses. I pair it with CANON EF 50mm. Its the cheapest fast lens you can buy. It is deadly fast f/1.8, that a steal for the 100$ price (well that’s another review)

I found a A2e on ebay for just 30$, its a an amazing bargain. Normally you can find one for under 50-100 dollars. If you find one don’t even think, just pick it up!

The only issue with that camera is the tendency of the adjustment wheel to stop working. It is a very good camera if it is in working condition. I prefer the EOS Elan (EOS 100) or the EOS 10s (EOS 10/10QD)
