The first Redscale film I ever tried never convinced me, in fact I didn't like it. So when I heard the news about the new Lomography Redscale XR film I wasn't that excited. Still, I bought a pack to try to prove myself wrong, ending loving the results and opening the door to a new range of possibilities and a whole lot of fun!!!
When I first saw some Redscale shots I was impressed by the intensity and sometimes apocalyptic quality of the images. I bought a pack a couple of months ago, ending terribly dissapointed by my results. So when I heard about the new Redscale XR film introduced by the Lomographic Society, I wasn’t excited at all. Tempted by the price but still skeptic, I bought a three-pack and went for some action. And when I picked up the results at the lab, I was amazed by its capabilities.
Its not all redscale, at least not the typical redscale that I know, because you have the option of controlling it by switching the ISO from 50 to 400. Since I used it with my Holga 120CFN the results were quite unpredictable. Always giving me a different and unique look on each shot. Going from dark green, cool blue, to yellow, orange and obviously that intense red that we all know. Is just amazing how it behaves, always impressing you with its versatility. I personally like the shots with the lower ISO, with its cooler tones, but the warm red shots with a higher ISO can be quite impressive as well. In the end, they all have that retro-dreamy kind of look.
I still have one more roll left to experiment. But I’m definitely buying another pack cause I really like to have a better control of the results. This film really provides you a new range of possibilities and yeah!! It’s a whole lot of fun. So go ahead, try it and tell us about your experience. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

I still have a roll of this left that I may have to pull out. I took a few too and hated the results. I think I'll try it at the lower ISO:)

I just bought a box of Lomography Redscale film at the New York store. On the way home, I saw this article on Facebook and showed it to my husband to explain what I planned to do with my new film. I loved your pics right away. Later, I saw that, at the same time I was admiring your pictures, you were hitting like on so many of mine. Thanks so much, it means a lot to me. And I love your results with Redscale. I hope I get them too! :)

Nice one! Great Photos! Redscale is very tricky but your results with the Lomo XR has convinced me to try it.
