Diana Mini - The Newcomer

A brief tale of becoming new to Lomography - Discovering the Diana Mini!

I’m not entirely sure how I stumbled into lomography but after proceesing my first film, I’m hooked!

My interest in photography began about ten years ago when I picked up a pentax ME Super in a local 2nd hand camera dealer. I started reading loads of magazines and tring different things. I had mixed result, some good pictures but nothing really amazing. Looking back I think I was trying too hard.

I upgraded to a Canon EOS within a couple of years and that provided really good quality pictures, however Ifound myself using it for the usual it solely holiday snaps and not a hobbie camera.

I’m planning a trip to Barcelona in the summer and I’m tired of lugging a big camera around and I’ve been warned of pickpockets and thieves. I thought that it was time I bought a smaller camera.

I imediately stumble on to the diana mini as an obvious choice, 35mm film, small, light and after reviewing some of the photos from this camera I knew it was the one for me. If anything I was sceptical that a plastic camera could yield such ceative and captivating images.

I’ve shot 1 film and the results are awesome, I just want to shoot more, i think its time to bulk order some sensia.

Great photos for your first roll! The one of the Angel of the North is stunning. Very impressive!

Buy as much Sensia as you can, though - they're stopping production, so if you're a fan of Sensia, you really want to set a corner of your fridge aside and stockpile some.
