"‘He's got strength to pull the cord? The other day I tried with Jimmy’s at Sentosa, took some effort man, or was I drunk?'" That's the question a friend asked me when I showed him some of my first Spinner shots. He was asking if my 3 year old boy (Fitzand) really managed to pull the cord and took the shots.
It was an exciting moment when the Spinner arrived at my desk on morning. Loaded it soon and next came the problem. Yes. A problem. I don’t like to appear in photos. Oh no! Later I had an idea and that was to include my little boy in the photos as much as possible and hopefully that will ‘neutralize’ the photo (aka ‘hopefully people won’t notice I’m in there’).
During a short trip to Malaysia, I had lots of fun spinning … not only with the Spinner in my hands but also Fitzand clinging on to me at the same time. Then came the problem. How do I pull the cord with one hand and hold the handle (of the camera) at the same time?
I showed Fitzand how it is done (pulling the cord) and soon he was helping me with it. Let’s call it a collaboration with the Spinner!
Back to the question my friend posed. Although it is somehow obvious that Fitzand was the one pulling the cord, I decided to make a little video to prove that … in Fitzand’s words … ‘I CAN SPIN!’ … and at the same time … prove that my friend was drunk. :D
