Holga 135BC: My New Lover

Wowee, what a camera! The Holga 135BC pretty much does all the work for you! Just point and shoot and you will have a work of art!

So….. I’m in love with a plastic camera. Yes, I know this is a bit awkward, but I can’t help it. She definitely wears the trousers in this relationship! For me, the world of analogue is a bit unknown, so when I first held the Holga in my arms, I was scared shitless… but after an intense study session of the manual, I inserted my first film and let fly.

I frog marched my boyfriend down to the beach and directed him to do certain things, but that didn’t seem right, so I handed him a skateboard, and let the Holga take over. The result was stunning! I really recommend this camera to anyone who wants to start up in Lomography. Its so easy to use, and the result is amazing. The photos it produces brings out the beautiful in all the subjects, be it your friend, a tree, or your 80 year old gran. And the multi-exposure is so much fun to play around with once you pluck up the courage.

Whether you take yourself seriously, or just want to fiddle with a camera, the Holga 135BC is perfect. I tried to take it seriously, but when my boyfriend managed to take a multi-exposure which resulted in my chest on my face, I had to question my seriousness… But on an ending note, the Holga 135 BC is the way to go, the extra oomph of vignette adds a classy touch to even the most unclassy images and I challenge anyone to NOT fall in love with this camera. It’s impossible folks!

My main problem with the Holga is that the Colorsplash flash doesn't sit right in the hotshoe and pushes down on the winder. Not a huge issue it does keeps me from fiddling with it when out and about. It is a great camera though. Great photos there. What film you using?

I love this camera to death too. And it has lots of nice (and cheap) goodies. I just got a fisheye lens for it!
And for a piece of plastic it feels quite sturdy.

I must say, you have some heavy vignetting; more than mine does!
