Acros the Barrier - Colours in Black and White: Fuji Acros (35mm, 100 iso) User-Review

Great contrast and nice black and white tones, Fuji Acros makes the transition a seamless one. Follow me 'Acros' the bridge to a whole new world of black and white photography!

I have never shot black and white on any of my 35mm cameras, and it was pretty daunting seeing so many great shots online. I was so used to the over saturated colours and tones of cross processing (over 80% of my rolls are xpro!). Hesitant to throw the colours away and see in the world in mono, this roll of Acros sat in my stash for some time. Each time I loaded up, the box would stare back expectantly, hoping that this will be its moment.

And eventually, with the delivery of my Kiev 4, its moment came. I snapped away, having some doubts about how it would turn out. Even after I finished the roll, it sat in its canister for some time before I got about to getting it processed.

I held up the contact sheet as I picked it up from the shop. It was great! The contrast was really good even though I did not have a filter on like the others. And as i looked at the full pictures, the rich tones became even more obvious. The deep, deep black were like the bass riffs in a Muse song, crunchy. I loved it! There was nothing grey scale about this film, and pure black and white is what it gives. Looks like its D76 from now on!
