Isn't it the cutest camera you've ever seen? For me, it was love at first sight, I just had to buy it. I figured out that even if the pictures would be terrible, the camera would still be useful as an interior object because of its looks. Fortunately, I found out that the pictures turn gorgeous as well... and surprisingly shaped.
The Japanese surely love gadgets and cameras … so of course they also adore toy-cameras. When I was travelling in Japan, I saw the disderi 3 lens robot camera in a gadget shop and I really couldn’t resist. I bought this Asian beauty in white with the pink ‘face’, but they also exist in other colors, such as white with green or black with orange.
The aperture is fixed at f8 and also shutter and focus are fixed. Don’t bother looking through the viewfinder, because it will only give you a wrong idea. Just don’t think, point and shoot … like you always should. I tried with ISO 400 negative 35mm film and that’s fine for almost all light conditions, from sunny days to brightly lit indoor scenes or even sunsets. This camera is perfect for beginners because you really can’t do anything wrong. But don’t worry: also if you’re an experienced (action) Lomographer, you’ll have a lot of fun with this baby.
Yes it’s true, it’s another actionsampler camera. Then what makes this one so special? Why should you buy this one? First of all: the design is so cute that you’re guaranteed to make other people smile when you point at them with your robot camera. Great plus: it’s very cheap! You can find really good online deals and it’ll propably be one of the cheapest new cameras you’ll ever buy.
But I haven’t talked about the best thing: the unique way the pictures look. The 3 lenses give you one wide image and two more ‘square’ ones, but in between them are round beautiful and unique borders that give your images an extra twist. The image is of course inverted, so normally you get the widest image on top of the picture. Best of all is that you can play with it: keeping your camera upside down, on the left or the right side, will give very different pictures. The disderi collection also exists with 2 or 4 lenses, but personally I prefer the 3 lens one, because of the typical borders and the possibility to turn. And last but not least: the sound when you click on the shutter is soooo funny that every click on the button is definitely fun!

I love my robot! its also very easy to take the mask out for seamless pics. It's the best 4 bucks i ever spent.

This little robot is made in China, I don't know maybe yours is a Japanese version. Anyway it's lovely and produces good sharp images, and the wide section enjoys a little slightly more exposure though. Your shots are marvelous I like them a lot, thanks......

i have one of this. the quality of the camera isn't the best, but it's pictures are surely fine!!! it's also possible to make great compositions, and it's a tinny camera as well, that fits into your pocket.

Hi Vesterdi! I have mine for about a year now and it still works perfectly ... I guess you'll need some luck and you'll have to treat the robot camera gently :-) Just keep it in a good bag and be nice to it!
