I could find very few information about the Fujica MF . It's reported to be one of the first fixed focus cameras manufactured by Fujifilm in the 80s, along with sisters M1 and M1-A.

In mid 80s, Fujica M1 met with significant success in its domestic and export markets. In 1984, nearly 140,000 unit cameras sold in the global market

The Fujica MA-1 was the final variant of the M-1 presented at Photokina 1982. I think that the MF is a later model, but I can’t confirm that. Like the M1 and M1-A models, the Fujica MF had a fix focus lens Fujinon f8/42mm and only one shutter speed at 1/100 sec. Unlike the other models, the Fujica MF has no setting for the aperture, no weather symbols and flash setting or hot-shore. It has a winding system by a toothed wheel and a green release button with a round shape, not squared like the M1/M1-A!

I received this camera as a birthday present from my parents more than 20 years ago. At the time my parents were playing a lot with photography & home development. I was very attracted by the SLR of my father and wished to have my own, so I asked for a camera. But I was surprised – and disappointed – to receive a “just plastic camera”. I expected “a real” camera! Now it’s funny to say, at that time it was not…
So, the first impact was strange then, that the Fujica MF became my beloved camera for many years and I used to take pictures of my school trips, summer holidays and many moments of my childhood.

A while ago, the Fujica emerged out of one of the boxes in which it was kept along with photos and negatives of those times. I must admit that as a child, I was much more orderly than now! Anyway, this plastic obscure object of desire took part in my old & plastic-photographic compulsion: first check and… the camera still works after more than 10 years!

The plastic Fujinon lens still gives nice pictures.

More information soon… stay tuned!
