Splitzer - Slicing and Dicing

Who ever thought that a little piece of plastic strapped to the front of your camera could drastically change your photos into wild works of art!

You know the phrase “size doesn’t matter”? Well, the Splitzer might very well be the embodiment of that saying, because the seemingly miniscule pice of plastic greatly changes the way you look at your camera. Operating it is simple enough; simply slide it into the front grooves on the LCA, or on top of the lens on the Diana, and you’re good to go! The only skill you really need in managing your Splitzer shots is a good memory, to know where that floating head was in the frame and where the toilet will connect to it. It’s perfect for when you’re on vacation and you want to capture the locals’ drunken debauchery, or when youre at home experimenting to see what boundaries you can push with your film.

What’s revolutionary about the Splitzer however, is not the ability to cut up your photos in halves, quarters, eights, or sixteenths, but how cleanly it cuts up the frame. There is little to no fade from, say, your friends head to your dog’s body, but a clean cut line instead. This means that the Splitzer is perfect for those who love multiple exposures, but hate that messy look it gives.

Soon after you begin using the Splitzer, you’re mind is in a tizzy, thinking of all the possible hybrid combination you can come up with: the sky under a building, a foot with a lamp, children hovering over flowers, the possibilities are endless! Another technique you can do is a shot of a person’s reaction, and what they’re looking at in the space next to them, all in the same single frame! I guarantee that once you get your first Splitzer-enhanced roll back, you’ll never want to take boring “normal” pictures again!

I love the Splitzer. I usually do half and half and find it works great. #5 and #11 are my favorites, especially 11!
