Kodak HIE Infrared (35mm, 25 iso) User-Review

The Kodak HIE Black and White Infrared Film is very nice. I've shot one roll of this film and it was fun! The infrared effect is really neat. The sky will darken with a little bit of haze but it didn't go black completely. Grass, leaves, and foliage turns white. Light skinned people are ghost white- very eerie indeed!

I recommend using this film with a wide angle lens to get the best results if you are shooting outdoors. Most surreal results are captured with the Red #25 filter or the near opaque infrared filter.

This yielded good results, but some of the negatives looked to be a tad underexposed. I will bracket next time. The prints were awesome except for the underexposed ones that led to a low contrast image on paper. The subject was an old graveyard-perfect for this film. It is recommended to be used in a manual camera body.

Loading in total darkness was a chore. I used a junk roll of film to practice with while I’m blindfolded many times before I mastered it. It’s grainy, but that adds to the surreal effect.

Simply the best film ever! can not wait to get my negatives back to see what surprises I will have..

I still got a few of those.
I am pretty scared to use them. the lash of the film is beige, almost white.
    that scares me!!!

Such a waste of a beautiful (and rare) film. This film should be shot through a decent SLR, with TTL metering - Then a 25A or IR filter
