Olympus Trip 35 - Trip Anywhere!

For simplicity and sharpness in a compact package, you simply can't go wrong with Olympus' baby, the Trip 35.

For anyone who wants to take well exposed, sharp pictures but with a fixed focus lens, I would recommend the trusty old Olympus Trip 35. Not the new plastic bodied, plastic lens toy variety, but the metal bodied model with a multi-coated Zuiko lens promoted so successfully by David Bailey in the ’70s – a camera capable of producing pictures indistinguishable from those taken with a top professional 35mm camera.T

The Olympus Trip is very, very easy to use. It has an auto-exposure system operated by a selenium photo-electric cell light meter to control the lens aperture. The beauty of this type of meter is that it doesn’t require batteries. Modern 35mm compacts advantage over this is the fact that it doesn’t have a built in flash. With small automatic flashguns being so cheap these days, however, this should not be a problem for most people. All you need to do after fitting the flashgun to the hot shoe is to set the aperture ring to the correct f-stop. So, anyone out there, join me as I make an unforgettable trip with the Trip!

Just one thing... The Olympus Trip 35 does`t have a hot-shoe for the flash! It has a pc conection (that little hole left and bellow the lens on the picture) for flash connection. Also it is possible to choose the aperture, but it`s only supposed to use this for flash, since you get a fixed speed when you take it out of automatic!

Loved your pictures, btw! Speacialy 4 and 6!

I've got one of these little guys and I love it! I'm looking to get a flash for it though. Any ideas or recommendations, please?

I bought one of these babies from a cool UK site called Tripman that sell reconditioned Trips pimped up in wonderfully funky fake animal skin finishes. Tripman is great for Trip accessories like flashes and filters too. I adore my Trip 35.
