Zenit 122 - My Lovely Russian Baby

There are three types of the Zenit 122 Russian camera. My review is about the Zenit 122K model.

This is my lovely Zenit 122. It is a Russian SLR cam. After I bought my Diana+ I was so addicted in analog photography that i was looking for a new one. I didn’t want to spend too much money so I looked through all the cams they had in the Lomoshop, and there I found this lovely cam Zenit 122 The price for this wonderful SLR cam is very low, if you look at the beautiful pictures which you can get with this cam, you will never be sorry of it. This cam was build in the 80s in the soviet union….my one comes from the Lomoshop. ;-)

This cam is not to use like an Actionsampler or to do the legendary Hip-Shot. No, with this cam should bring some time with you. With some patience, you should get some wonderful pictures. The Zenit also works good if you like to do macro shots like Flowers or Insects. The Zenit has an automatic Light meter which helps you to find the right ISO norm to get the best results. So go and buy one, and don’t forget to have fun!

Great gallery. Love the shot of the dog sticking his tongue out.

Sorry for being a pain in the ass but do you see that "K" on your camera? That means your camera is a Zenit 122K, not a Zenit 122. The first 122 came equipped with a Helios 44M lens, so you get the picture. And I know that the "Lomography" movement is filled with mistakes and misunderstandings but, to everyone that might read this: stop calling analog cameras "lomo cameras" or "lomography cameras", most of them are SIMPLE COMPACT CAMERAS. Don't get me wrong, I'm part of the party too but cameras have stories we must respect! Oh, nice lovely pictures!

Hi! I am like a year late for replying. Thanks for the review.
I recently bought an used Zenit 122 which is on its way here.
Just wanted to point out. The model which you have is the later model of Zenit 122. Yours is Zenit 122K which means it accepts K mount lens and it came with Vivitar lens not Helios lens which came with 122. It obviously has the same specs so thumbs for for the wonderful review! :)

Although it's been some years since someone commented, I just received my Zenit 122k. I look forward to testing it. So far, everything seems in order and it appears to handle similar to my other SLR.
