Awesome performer in any lighting condition!
I won this roll of Ilford film last year in an event Sponsored by Lomomanila, which was intended to harness the inner potential of newbie Lomographers. Our group was lucky enough to come out on top and among the loot of films, cameras and blank calling cards that we had to split up was the single roll of Ilford Delta 400. A good friend, icuresick wanted the film and the only means of getting it without blood shed was through a game of Rock, Paper Scissors. It was the best of three rounds, He took the lead by two games but I suddenly caught up and in the last round when our hands were brought down in a game of strategy and luck I landed the final blow. Rock wins over Scissors!
I was able to use the film in all sorts of conditions with my LC-A and now I am truly a believer that Ilford films are special breed. From harsh sunny weather, to partial shade and night time indoor shots I have to say it was a consistent performer. Differentiation of shadows is handled quite well. Although I did have some glare or leaks in the sunny shots I took, but not any that I would consider as a deal breaker. The Ilford Delta 400 provides excellent contrast and really nice detail. Coupled with the fine grain , shooting with this film and getting good results is such an easy task.
You can say what you want about cheap black and white film but when it really matters I think I’d stock up on these babies for those special shoots.
