Kodak 160vc (120, 160 iso) user-review

This film is sometimes hazy, brilliant, greenish, vivid... not only are the colours completely unpredictable, but this is also a bit of a villain kind of film.

This film is sometimes hazy, brilliant, greenish, vivid… not only are the colours completely unpredictable, but this is also a bit of a villain kind of film.

It’s the only type that stole both my Holga foam pads on separate occasions and sucked them up into the roll, very cheeky I say. I picked up 10 rolls of this stuff on Ebay. The film was listed as being out-of-date from 2001-2006, so I knew I was going to have some fun with it.

The colours in my first roll were almost like slide film – amazingly vivid and bright! The second roll was quite normal, the third went ballistic and turned sepia with a filter. After that I had some fun with portraiture and what I got were skin tones that were subtle, fine-grained, and eloquent.

I used this film in conjunction with slide film when going out on photo-taking expeditions. It worked well because with either type of film, I knew the results wouldn’t come out “normal”, and that’s what I really loved about 160VC expired film.

hey guys! thanks for the nice comments! number 11 is definately an anomaly. that morning i had spent 3 hours trying to make my own splitzer for my holga, its not as easy as it looks...anyway, it was basically two bits of cardboard that spun round on the front of the lens. for this shot i took two pictures within one block near the train station. the cardboard bits fell into this position somehow...gotta love d.i.y. :D

Good job Kirri =) and I love the homemade splitzer shot! We use a lensbaby sometimes when doing video shoots at work, it looks really cool on film (Sony Z1 film camera with an adapter for Canon photo optics + lensbaby)...
