Paradies DIA 100 (35mm, 100 iso) user-review

The cheap trick: Cheap slide film available at a common German drugstore which also processes films.

Word on the street is that the Paradies is a Kodak Elitechrome, I am not sure about that. Still it offers rich colors at a reasonable price. I like the large grains, the dark colours and the high contrast i get on my images upon using this film. At dusk and dawn the film produces warm, vibrant colors while at midday and in full light they tend to be a little blueish or greenish.

I use the Paradies on my LC-A for dark, nearly tunnel like vignettes.

The only downside I discovered is that it has a tendency to be overexposed in certain light situations like when a light is reflected on a sand and also there’s the large grain that may appear on your photos. It may be a bother if you’re not a fan of those.

For processing, that can be a problem in German drugstores. What I do is to just paint the film canister black using a permanent marker and put a sticker reading: C-41 on it. This film is worth a try. If you already have a favourite slide film, this could be the opportunity to try something new.

But I´ll stick with the Elitechrome for most situations though.
