This camera is the one I like the most and use the most, (note my nickname: cameraO(bscura), because it brings you back to the roots of photography, and it is always a surprise, whats coming out when you have developed the film.
The little wooden box works perfect as a pinhole cam, but not too perfect, as the pics always have a soft mystic image, which makes them different to other cameras.
My Zero had walked along with me on many trips – stood on a tripod in the Red Sea, on a shaky little stone upon
an abyss, and on a lot of different paving stones all over the world. It helped me to get a lot of nice contacts to people, which were interested to hear about the secrets of Camera Obscura, schoolkids in Istanbul, a beduine in the desert of Sinai, or a guard in the Hagia Sofia in Istanbul, which comes running, because he thought that I had placed a bomb on the floor.
You don’t need a viewfinder, put it somewhere on in front of your object, open the shutter, wait 2 sec. (sunny), or longer by darkness, and the light is streaming through a nearly microscopic whole to your film. The super wide angel
of 25 mm sees everything around you.
It used 120 roll of film, color or black&white, but you can also put a 35mm film into the camera, with the effect, to expose the perforation.
