Despite recent announcements of product discontinuations to hit the analogue community, it seems that things are finally looking up as Film Ferrania recently broke the good news that they are currently “in the process of restarting production for analog film in both still and cinema formats.”

On its FAQ page, the company revealed that it will begin making first test batches “in early Autumn 2014.” Ferrania will be initially producing films in 35mm and 120 for still cameras, as well as cine formats for the Super 8 and 16mm. “These four films are just the start,” it further noted, “We are, in fact, designing our new factory to be flexible enough to produce almost any film format ever created. We will be looking to you, the users, to decide what’s next.”

To amp up anticipation, Ferrania will also be posting a series of countdown posts on its website, where they “will be releasing gems from Ferrania’s storied history.” On its first post was a 1940s short documentary filmed by LUCE Cinecittà about the original Ferrania factory, as well as the hint on “a big announcement coming in mid-September.”
