The Daily Hex: Indian Khaki

Let's go see what Lomographs dressed in prestigious Indian Khaki look like!

What’s a ‘hex’ anyway?

Hex actually pertains to hex values, which are 6-digit hexidecimal numbers that are primarily used in web design. Your photographs can be viewed by hex values and we have almost 1,500 common colors that you can browse through, most of which have names that are quirky, goofy, and downright weird. But don’t be fooled, these colors are real eye candies, too!

We know khaki as the common color for military uniforms but this muted earth color actually has a rich history. Before the British expansion into India, the uniform of the English army has a distinguishable red color. This made it hard for them to blend in the sandy, dusty Indian terrain so Sir Harry Lumsden, a British lieutenant, invented khaki as an alternative fabric for the uniforms of the troop.

The word khaki was derived from the Persian word khāk which means dust. Today, khaki is one of the most popular fabric that is used in any conceivable garment.

That was some heavy information, right? Let’s all cool down a bit and appreciate these Lomographs proudly donning Indian Khaki:
