After a major revamp, allow us to introduce the LomoScanner 2 app for iOS! A new and improved app for scanning your photos with the Lomography Film Scanner!

Over a year ago, alongside our Kickstarter funded Lomography Film Scanner project we launched our 35mm film scanning app, the LomoScanner. This was an exciting new challenge for us within the realm of app development and we want to thank you for your ongoing support and advice! With your help, we are very proud to introduce you to the LomoScanner 2 – a flashier, speedier and improved version of the LomoScanner app.

The New LomoScanner 2 for iOS

  • Streamlined design
  • Manual controls for exposure, brightness, contrast and temperature added
  • Improved panorama stitching photo feature
  • LomoKino animation feature to scan your movies
  • Works with a wide range of films
  • Share your creations instantly
  • Adapted color filtering
  • Faster!
  • Optimized for iPhone 5

Today we are sharing the first version of the new app which has been redesigned and developed from scratch. We are now working with a new app developer so any necessary changes from are implemented extremely quickly. And don’t worry Android users, we created the new app with iOS to fine-tune everything, and we will begin work on the Android version of Lomoscanner 2 when this is running smoothly!

If you have any comments (good or bad!), questions or advice, please leave a comment below – your feedback is really important to us for ongoing improvements. Once again thanks for all your support and help so far! Download the LomoScanner 2 app on the App Store (requires iOS 7). will this be available for android?

@djramsay: yes it will. As written in the article we fine-tune the iOS version first and then work on the Android version.

I really hope that this version will be better than the first. It has been over one year and I couldn't use my Smartphone Scanner once because the App did't work properly on my (android) phone.

"we fine-tune the iOS version first and then work on the Android version."

Lomography said this first time round and well lets say I cant wait until 8+ months down the line for them to realise once again that they said they will support android then to pump out some rubbish app and expect us to be happy with it. Out of every thing I have bought from lomography or funded on kickstarted this has been the only one I have actually regreted.

I wont even pass it on/sell as no body I know can use it because of its poor support!

@g4rrick, I'm sorry that you now feel this way.
We can understand your concern and this is why we are really taking the time to develop the apps separately - with a lot of testing and re-testing involved before the Android version is launched :) We are absolutely confident of our ability to produce a fantastic app for our LomoScanner users. Any further issues you can get in touch with the team at help@lomography.com. Thanks!

I'm having fun rescanning my Lomokino movies, but I haven't figured out how to crop out the mask and sprockets! Is there a way of doing this in the app?

@rmarvin use the pinch method on your screen to 'zoom' in
