Sometimes, we forget that not everyone strikes gold at the very first attempt at showing off the art that they’ve worked hard on. Here are a few rejection letters addressed to some of the most famous artists that we know today, proving to us that persistence does pay off.
A lot has already been said about trying until one finally succeeds, yet knowing it doesn’t make facing rejection feel any less painful because for most of us, if not all, our work is a part of ourselves. Putting it out there for criticism and hopefully acceptance is nerve-wracking enough, and hearing the authorities say “no” simply will always be a downer no matter how many times you hear it. Indeed, our dedication to our craft and belief in what we can do should be greater than anything else, big enough to withstand all the obstacles that would surely be thrown our way.
Take these artists, for example. Had they given up when they received these letters early on in their respective careers, do you think they would still have the attention that they and their work rightly deserve? Their tenacity is indeed something we all need to emulate if we really want to get recognition. That said, may these serve as a boost of confidence the next time we feel even a hint of doubt in our abilities!
