New 'Long Exposure' Oil Paintings by Alexandra Pacula

Not everybody finds anything special with blurry and out-of-focus shots, but Alexandra Pacula found it a perfect way to illustrate how cities are bustling with life and activity. The New York-based Polish artist has recently unveiled a new set of paintings for a solo show, some of which you can take a look at after the jump!

Last year, we offered a glimpse of the beautiful oil paintings resembling long exposure photos by New York-based artist Alexandra Pacula, and we’re thrilled to learn that she has recently showcased a set of new works for a solo exhibit.

Entitled veloCity, the exhibit features Pacula’s newest renditions of the hustle and bustle of New York City at night done in her signature “long exposure” style.

On her work and creative motivations, Pacula says:

“My work investigates a world of visual intoxication; it captures moments of enchantment, which are associated with urban nightlife. I am fascinated by the ambiance of the city at night and its seductive qualities. The breathtaking turbulence of speeding vehicles and hasty pedestrians evoke feelings of wonder and disorientation. The vibrant lights become a magical landscape with enticing opportunities and promises of fulfillment.”

veloCity runs until December 8, 2013 at the Might Tanaka Art Gallery in Brooklyn. Take note of the details below should you want to visit:

111 Front Street
Suite 224
Brooklyn, NY 11201

Wednesday – Saturday: 12pm – 6:30pm.
Sunday: 12pm – 6pm.
