Petzval Update: A New Milestone, a New Goal, and New Perks to Look Forward To

Just a few days to go, and yet there's so much more in store!

What a great start to the week! We just smashed through our $1.3 million stretch goal and it’s all thanks to you lovely people. That means that every backer for the Petzval Lens will now also get additional Waterhouse aperture plates for free!

By the way, if you haven’t already told us what extra aperture designs you’d most like us to produce, you still can by filling in our Aperture Plate Survey.

Your support has helped transform the Petzval project from a twinkle in our eye to something real, tangible and wonderful. But we aren’t just here to say thanks today, we also wanted to tell you about some exciting treats we have coming your way.

We couldn’t end the campaign without asking everyone to s-t-r-e-t-c-h one last time. So we have come up with a $1.4 million goal too! With only 5 days to go, we know it’s a big ask. But it’s worth it, we promise. If we manage to make the new $1.4 million goal, we will also offer every Petzval lens backer a beautiful leather and cotton camera strap for your (D)SLR camera which will feature the Petzval logo.

Support the project via Kickstarter.

The new Lomography Petzval (D)SLR Art Lens is a reinvention of the legendary portrait glass lens that first appeared in the 19th century. Our version is a high-quality glass optic that makes it possible for Canon and Nikon analogue and digital SLR mount cameras to yield the famous Petzval look – sharp focus areas with unique bokeh effects, strong color saturation, and artful vignettes. It’s a distinct look that goes far beyond using photo editing software and filters.

Fund this project on Kickstarter and help us bring back this extraordinary lens for 21st century photographers and filmmakers!
