Monday Moodboard: In Which Karen Carpenter Makes It Better

It's literally a "rainy days and Mondays"-type of day here over in Manila, so you could say that adding a dash of the gift that is Karen Carpenter is just the thing to even things out. She sang it best after all.

I think we can all agree that a person cannot qualify having a good taste in music if he/she cannot at least acknowledge the fact that Karen Carpenter possessed one of the most beautiful singing voices in history.

It was like a gentle stream running down the mountain on a spring day: smooth, crystal clear and absolutely enchanting. I was reminded by this universal fact when I stumbled upon this gorgeous stripped down version of We’ve Only Just Begun — nothing but bass, drums and Karen’s spectacular vocals.

For the benefit of those who haven’t heard of her. Karen Carpenter was an American singer and drummer, known best as one-half of the 1970s brother-sister duo, The Carpenters alongside her brother Richard. She tragically passed away on February 4, 1983 at the age of 32 from heart failure caused by complications related to anorexia, an eating disorder which she battled for years.

She may have left this world all too soon, but she will forever be immortalized in their songs. I could just listen to her all day.
