Italian Photography Company Ferrania to Get Back into Film Business

In a recent announcement, Ferrania said that they're finally getting ready to make films again after more than a year of preparation. More details about this exciting news from the Italian film manufacturer after the jump!

After years of being out of the film manufacturing business, Italian photography company Ferrania is finally getting back at making films again, as they recently announced to the subscribers of their mailing list.

For those who missed it, Ferrania also shared the good news on the company blog. According to the announcement, Ferrania, with dreams of putting film “in a new era where it can live in symbiosis with digital imaging technologies,” made preparations for more than a year and is now ready to go back to the film manufacturing business. They will be starting with a small production of film, and if all goes well, the new films will be ready for shipping in the first quarter of 2014.

    I was happy to hear this news. They must think there is a big enough market to spend money starting again. Maybe, because of the cut backs by Kodak and Fuji there is a market and they will fill the gap. I remember when most store brand films were made by Ferrania. I'm looking forward to trying a few rolls when available.
