  3. That looks like a rack and pinion focusing mech on an old brass lens. Maybe a projection lens... Some sort of projector ... Like a magic lantern?

Petzval lens seems about right given the picture in the first article.

Wiki Petzval looks spot on. But which camera will it be for?

    I'd say a tilt-shift camera.

Definitely a petzval lens, but I don't know what camera it would be for, or if it's a stand alone accessory for SLRs.

Petzval lens judging from the look of the photo in the email I got. Wonder which camera it'll be for?

A Petzval-formula lens with a rack and pinion focus! Since the Konstructor is your only SLR, it must be designed for that camera. Any rangefinder wouldn't be able to make use of the focus adjustment you are showing here. I'm really looking forward to this!

Looks awfully metallic to be a konstuktor lens... Though the actual product might not actually be metal of course.

Based on the clues so far (the cross-section diagram and the focusing knob picture), it does indicate a Petzval lens (old lens design achieving f/3.7) as said by @wilper but I'm not sure what the "new-ness" part of it is. Hmmm...

Too big for a Konstruktor lens. Besides I don't see the Konstruktor with a brass barrel lens!
It looks like a part from an old wet plate camera... but I know this is going to be wrong!

Heh, You don't say it will be a projector for a LomoKino. That's something I'd buy for sure, haha. :)

I gues it'll be a petzval lens for konstruktor or belair camera. But I don't really think it'll be made from metal.

I think it's going to be the new Belair lens (if it really is metal). If it's for the Konstructor, it will likely be plastic. It would also be cool if it was an M42 mount for the various Zenit SLR cameras.
