NXNE 2013 is back in town for its 19th year and once again, the Lomography Gallery Store Toronto is lucky enough to host some rad DJs and bands live for some in-store sessions this Friday and Saturday, June 14-15. There's nothing like live music to make the store even cozier than it is, so drop by this weekend to snap a photo and give them a listen while you shop!
It’s that time of year again. Yup, NXNE (North by Northeast) 2013 is back in town for it’s 19th year with (get ready…) 1000 bands + 30 films + 50 stages + 65 interactive sessions + 150 comedians + 60 artists. All within the span of seven days! From June 10-16 enjoy one of the most anticipated summer music events in Canada by exploring all the music, film, comedy, art, and interactive events throughout the city.
Here’s the rundown:
Friday, June 14th
2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Kentron
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm – Benjamin Boles
Ben Boles is a one-man-band equipped with a guitar, a looping pedal, and a drum machine. He makes the argument that folk music and techno are the same thing. Americana goes electronic.
DJ Fusion & Ausar Rah Black Hawk (presented by Fusebox Radio):
DJ Fusion (a.k.a. Mary Nichols) has been rocking in the US with her syndicated radio show, the FuseBox Radio Broadcast, since 1998. She brings the best in conscious hip hop, R&B, soul, funk, jazz, reggae, house, and more to the urban community and keeps everyone moving. Some of Mary’s recent accomplishments include being a keynote speaker on TED Talks for HIp Hop and creating several courses on hip hop for universities across the states. Mary will also be returning as the house Dj for NXNE’s Sunday Hip Hop concert at Yonge/Dundas Square, on top of running an official Fusebox Radio showcase at NXNE featuring guests from all over North America.
Ausar Rah Black Hawk is a multi-talented DJ, producer, and vocalist who, with two turntables and a mic (along with a syndicated radio show, beat machine, microphone, plus other modern day music technological wonders) is ready to bring an exciting sound.
Sounds great, right? So come by our gallery store (536 Queen St. West) this Friday and Saturday, June 14-15 between 2-5pm to enjoy some of the tunes by these unreal NXNE artists. See you there!
