My Analogue Life Video Contest: Competition Extended & Some Inspiration From HQ!

We have now had chance to look through all the entries we received for the ‘My Analogue Life Video Contest’ and would like to thank everyone who took the time to take part. There were some really creative entries, but unfortunately we didn’t get nearly as many submissions as we hoped for. We believe this was due a misunderstanding over the type of video we are looking for, and apologize that this was not made clearer during the duration of the rumble. But we would like to now more clearly explain the concept and re-open the competition to encourage more people to take part, since the prizes on offer are so amazing and we believe everyone in the community should have the opportunity to submit!

Since the My Analogue Life Video Contest closed, we have checked through all the entries and want to start by thanking everyone who took the time to submit a video – There are some very creative and fun examples of what you guys in the community are capable of!

However, we believe that there was a misunderstanding over the types of video entries we were looking for. Many people seem to have thought we were looking for LomoKino videos or longer, more polished digital videos. This is NOT the case – This competition was a call-out for any kind of video, and we were hoping for tons of very short, funny digitally shot videos captured on devices such as smartphones. We were looking for more ‘quick and dirty’ digital videos which demonstrate your love for analogue in funny, interesting and unique ways. We were not looking for LomoKino movies in particular since we realize that these take a lot of time to produce; we were looking for videos which you could shoot in a few minutes with friends and then upload straight away. This is because, with all the videos we receive, we want to then create a big video showing all the funniest clips of Lomographers living analogue.

We want to see your most crazy ideas of how the worlds of analogue and digital combine in your life. What does it mean for you to be an analogue fanatic in a digital era? Feel free to go really radical in terms of what you show us (within reason of course!). How fun is your life with analogue? and what gets you down about digital?

We want to say sorry that this concept was not more clearly explained whilst the rumble was ongoing, but now want to re-open the competition for a further 2 months to give loads more people the chance to enter. Firstly, we want to promise right off that everyone who took part in the rumble so far will be rewarded for their efforts – In fact, we will give every entrant so far 10 Piggy Points for the Online Shop, and you will then be eligible for any of the prizes too (so you are still definitely in with a chance of the grand prize); you are also of course free to submit new entries to improve your chance of winning, we just want to give the rest of the community some more time to show us their inspiration.

To help explain the types of videos we are looking for, we spent a little time at HQ making some short videos to help inspire you. In each mini clip we tried to show a different reason for why we love analogue photography. Whilst these clips were shot using digital devices, we hope you can see our passion for analogue shine through!! If anything, these video examples are more ‘polished’ than what we are looking for from you guys – Your entries can be shot in a quicker way with little or no editing – We are really just after some funny, crazy, silly ideas! Ready to take part with a new video entry? Head to the Competition Page and submit your video!
