Film Photography Day Photowalk Recap!

We had an amazing day of fun on April 12th for Film Day! To start the day, we gathered together with some awesome Lomographers and took a photowalk down Milwaukee avenue to the Chicago Community Darkroom, shooting a black and white roll of film along the way. Once there, we learned not only how to develop film, but also how to make our own black and white prints!

To start off the beautiful afternoon, we gathered together in the store with our cheery Lomographers and had a crash course in analog photography. Newbies and pros alike attended and got their questions answered by our expert staff members. After “school” was out, it was time for a walkabout!

Braving the chilly weather everyone headed down Milwaukee, taking photographs of street art, each other, and whatever else inspired them! By the time the group arrived at Chicago Community Darkroom, everyone had burned through the film, and were eager to find out how to get it developed.

The incredibly knowledgeable staff of the darkroom showed the group around the building, and then the whole group got down to business! Everyone learned not only how to develop film, but were shown by hand how to make a print from the negatives. It was a fantastic learning experience, and a fun time for everyone involved.
