Jot Down Notes In These Inspiring Journals For Photographers

"You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved." —Ansel Adams

As some film photographers experience, particularly with cameras with manual settings, there are times when you manage to capture a technically great photo and wish you could recreate it, if only you remembered the exact information about taking that photo.

For that reason, it’s handy to have pen and paper with you for taking down photography details, especially if you’re just starting to learn or exploring new techniques, so you can figure out a style works best for you.

Jot down trivial notes such as what film you paired with what camera, the date/time/weather conditions you shot in, what ISO/shutter speed/aperture you chose, what photo you took in a specific frame, and so much more!

These journals by American illustrator Lisa Congdon for Compendium may inspire you to pick up both pen and camera with its beautifully painted covers with handwritten quotes from famous photographers like Ansel Adams and Marc Riboud.

If the hand-drawn rangefinder, bellow, and TLR camera don’t do it for you, maybe these Lomo Notebooks depicting Lomography cameras will! Check out the Books, Albums & Prints section of the Online Shop for more Lomography merchandise!

These are nice, but what it's really got me interested in is making my own. There are lots of great tutorials online. Hopefully I will do something good enough to make a tipster.
