In 2009, John Maloof caused a stir in the world of street photography when he discovered this amazing collection of prints and negatives from the 50s, made by a woman named Vivian Maier. And now, the trailer for the documentary about the life of this fiercely private woman has just been released.
The documentary, entitled Finding Vivian Maier, revolves around Maloof’s journey to unravel the mysterious life of this enigmatic nanny-slash-photographer, including documentation and interviews of people who were once close to her, as well as commentary from Maloof himself.
It’s brilliant and fascinating, and it’s definitely something to look forward to.
Maloof has previously published a book on Maier’s work, Vivian Maier: Street Photographer, and it is reported that he personally owns around 90% of the entirety of her body of work.
You can get a glimpse of her brilliant photographs here or on the original blog.
