Photobooth Proposals: From Saying 'Cheese' to Saying 'I Do'

Since we've been hit by Cupid's arrow during this most lovesickening holiday, we're sharing 14 photos of guys popping "the" question in a creative, candid, and—fine—cute way: by surprising their lovely ladies with a photobooth proposal!

As Beyoncé once advised, if you like it, put a ring on it. These men sure know how to romance their future wives and we give them plus points for taking an analogue approach, too. If this isn’t love, then we don’t know what is!

Eugene“After racking my brain for months, I finally decided to propose this way because I could A) Surprise my girlfriend B) Capture her real emotion and C) For years to come, have those photos be a wonderful reminder of how happy we were that day.”

Will & ElisabethIn 2007, Will Norris got down on one knee in the very photobooth that marked his first date with girlfriend Elisabeth 18 months previous. “I couldn’t have planned it any better exactly when each picture took.”

Melody & Derek“Derek lured me into a photobooth to take some fun photos, little did I know, that he had already taken pictures with proposal notes! When he handed me the photobooth strips for safe keeping, he had slipped the proposal in there. When I looked at it I just about fainted. First of all, I had never told him that before I ever even met him I used to say that a photobooth proposal would be the BEST way to get engaged!”

Michael & RhondaA deliberately boring tour of four photobooths in 2007 ended with a surprise proposal from Michael Glasgow to his girlfriend Rhonda. It worked.

Kaylen & Pete“I was sitting on his lap as I fed the bills inside the machine. The first picture is cute. The second picture is awkward because he’s shifting his weight to get into his pocket and I have to move. The third picture? Well…”

Igem“He told me let’s go and take some pictures on the photo booth and I was excited because I’ve never got pictures there in my life, and every time I see a photo booth, I said I wanted to do it one day. So we sit and I was getting ready for the camera when he asked me if I want to marry him. I was totally surprised as you can tell in the pictures and I started crying immediately. He did an amazing job and I’m in love and of course I can’t wait for the wedding day!”

Shannon & Pete“During one of our first outings as a couple, we went to a restaurant and had photobooth pictures taken. Since then, we always take photos together whenever we see an old-fashioned booth and we hang the pictures on our fridge. Without me realizing it, he swapped the five strips of our photos with the pictures of him spelling out “Will you marry me?” across the rows. I had no idea the photo strips were on the fridge until he said “WILL YOU PLEASE LOOK AT THE FRIDGE!”!”

♥ Photographers Angela & Ithyle“These are the pictures from when we got engaged. I have no idea in frames one and two and am really confused in frame three (lets never make that face again!) and really surprised in frame four.”

Keith & Barbara“Keith Gaddis decided it to be the perfect proposal spot after remembering that he and girlfriend Barabara had a thing for photobooth pictures when they first dated.”

Katie & Daniel“So we took a first round of photos, which turned out great. But West Egg’s photo booth is ancient and not digital, so we had to wait about 10 minutes for our photos to develop. While we were waiting, I was talking about how sweet it is when people have photo booths at their weddings… Little did I know… This was the perfect proposal for me, so full of meaning, but also fun and spontaneous!”

David“The time is right….we are getting married.” (At the San Diego Museum of Photography photo booth)

David LuoSHE SAID YES!”

StevenLast night he got engaged in our photobooth at Ace Hotel, Portland. Congratulations, lovebirds.

♥ It may not have been an engagement, but we’re throwing in this vintage image of a Victorian era photobooth couple because it’s just adorable!
