Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, here’s a story that’s sure to make you swoon, and get you in a romantic mood!
Just last week, the Huffington Post ran a story on a newly-engaged couple Patrick Eggert and Sophie Ellis.
Now, while their names won’t ring any bells for some of us, those who are familiar might recognize them through the popular photosharing website, Flickr.
Patrick is a filmmaker based in Portland while Sophie is a photographer based in England. The love story of the two started off, just like all other online romances, from a simple message.
They were both sharing photos from their 365 project, and Sophie happened to leave a comment on one of Patrick’s photos. He responded in kind, and started to offer words of encouragement in Sophie’s own body of work, and gradually, the two became closer and closer. Leaving comments then progressed into instant messaging and Skype, which then took a level up when Sophie flew to Portland in 2011 to meet Patrick for the first time.
And just this December, Patrick popped the question (which he managed to capture, of course!) and now they’re well on their way to getting Sophie a visa so they be together.
Sweet story, right? And to think, they couldn’t have gotten together in the first place if it wasn’t for their mutual love for photography!
