The Let's Play Sardines Opening Party

After months of cutting, sticking, gluing, spraying and painting the Let’s Play Sardines Exhibition opened its doors to the world at the Lomography Gallery Store East. 25 customised cameras from artists including Hattie Newman, Gemma Correll, Pete Fowler and Chris Howker, each one totally unique. Find out how we got on right here.

Everyone had been waiting for this day for months. We carefully unboxed all the customised La Sardina cameras and set them in place. We plunged a big bucket of Saint Beer in ice and waited to open our doors. Ian Stevenson arrived last minute to drop off his creation and our store manager Gemma had fun trying on Malarky’s fuzzy monster head.

Mix Master Pike and Landmaster Flash set up their gear and provided some interesting music for the evening.

Chris Howker – creator of the phenomenal CMYBOT came along and took some photographs of the night which you can see on his blog post here.

Whodunnknit arrived, as well as Malarky and Pete Fowler popped along to say hello.

There was a whole lot of doodling going on as people submitted their own designs for a chance to win a camera. This competition is open to anyone, just pop into the east store, grab a La Sardina template and get designing. The competition ends on February 4th.

Thank you to everyone who took part in this event, we had so much fun we want to do it all again!

Below is a list of all the artists involved, check them out and get inspired to be creative!
