Introducing The New Lomography Smartphone Film Scanner

We are proud to introduce the latest Lomographic invention. The Lomography Smartphone Film Scanner offers you the perfect way to scan, edit and share all your 35mm films. Exclusively available via Kickstarter and expected to be shipped by March 2013.

Instant Scanning, Instant Sharing
The scanner is designed with a direct light panel which casts an even glow over your film; scanning each film is made as easy as capturing a photo on your phone. It scans at a quality perfectly capable for archiving, sharing and printing.

iPhone and Android Compatible.
The Smartphone Film Scanner is compatible with all iPhone models and many Android Smartphones too*. It works together with a free integrated App. The App allows you to edit negative scans into positives, stitch together panoramas (photos taken with the Horizon and Spinner 360° cameras, for example) and animate 35mm analogue movies shot using the LomoKino.

Complete Convenience.
Due to its small size, the Smartphone Film Scanner can easily be transported. Whilst it is possible to scan your films using a backlit photo scanner, these scanners are large and cumbersome. The Smartphone Film Scanner is small enough to fit in your bag, allowing you to scan films away from home.

Works With All 35mm Films. The Smartphone Film Scanner allows you to scan all different kinds of 35mm film. You can easily scan color negative, color slide and black & white films.

The Smartphone Film Scanner is exclusively available via Kickstarter. Please make a pledge today, share the news about this product with your friends and help us turn our vision into a reality. We have all kinds of rewards available for different pledges. If the project is successful, we estimate that we will be able to begin dispatching the Smartphone Film Scanner in March 2013.

*Please Note: We have tested the scanner using the following Android phones but are confident it will work with any smartphones which have the camera in the upper side / corner.

This is a great idea. The sample scans though don't look promising. :(

That is the most idiotic thing Lomography has ever produced. There. I said it.

I don't get why this is even on Kickstarter. You have the money, either make it or don't. Who is pledging for this?

I am also confused as to why this is on kickstarter. I am assuming they want the added attention and user market for being on kickstarter since those projects are hot these days and attract a lot of money. However, they don't seem to be using kickstater to it's full potential (no stretch goals, no add ons, no exclusives), they are just using it to sell the product and hopefully a lot of it. Either way, I support the company and the product, they have my pledge.

Hopefully in the future they will continue to use kickstarter but consider using it for it's intended purpose and to it's full potential. I would love to see a fully kickstarter funded Lomography Project, with plenty of user feedback, goals, and exclusives.

Wouldn't it be great if Lomography did another Kickstarter campaign to produce new film! Color infrared could be a stretch goal. I guess I can dream.

basically we wanted to also spread the word about analogue photography in another big community and we have been going back and forth about which product would be fitting. for this product we decided it to be this product which is at the good intersection between digital and analogue and fits to kickstarter.

concerning the other ideas you have for other "to kickstart" items, we are always working on surprises, so keep on posting your ideas!

    thanks!
