Rare Slides of The Beatles Up For Grabs

Rare and unpublished colour transparencies of the Fab Four are up for auction this coming March.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the release of The Beatles’ first album, Please Please Me, Omega Auctions will be holding off a special auction on March 22 that includes a large collection of rare vinyl and memorabilia.

One particularly interesting collection is the set of 65 colour transparencies of the band taken in their first US tour back in 1964.

Taken at a time when black and white photos were the norm, the coloured images were captured by Dr. Robert Beck, and comprise mostly of stage shots including close-up portraits from a Las Vegas Sahara Hotel press conference, a Las Vegas Convention Centre gig, plus shots of a private party at the Beverly Hills mansion of the then-president of Capitol Records, Alan Livingston.

Dr. Beck died in 2002, and left the collection in an archive in his Hollywood Home.
