Like Lomography itself, ABC is a humble Australian television station, sometimes broadcasting far more 'alternative' programs than other more commercial channels. Hence it was only fitting that Lomography would feature in a new program/website feature on ABC called 'Photo Finish'.
Broadcast on June the 14th accompanied by a simultaneous launch of their website, this TV show, aptly named (cleverly) ‘Photo Finish’ promotes photography of all kinds to the mass, viewing audience, the first show of its kind on Australian Television.
Although it normally focuses more on the latest DSLR’s and documents the lives and technical experiences of professional photographers, even they were able to recognize the important role Lomography plays in the world of photography.
In the context of horse racing, as a part of one of the segments, amateur photographers are given the task of obtaining beautiful shots of horses coming by with a Lomography diana mini and Fisheye 2 camera.
It seems extremely appropriate that the regular, humble, yet creative amateur is given a chance to capture such a beautiful moment with a Lomography camera, as this is the very vision Lomography embodies! You can watch the TV program for yourself if you visit ABC’s iView site!
