Photographer Laura Austin is one of the lucky few who got spots from the "Win Your Dream Space Competition" and she recently put together an analogue exhibition at the Lomography Gallery Store Los Angeles which runs throughout November. Check out snippets of her interview on Cool Hunting below!
A few months ago, Lomography cooked up the “Win Your Dream Space Competition” wherein interested parties could pitch an event to be held at one of 11 Lomography Gallery Stores around the world.
Photographer Laura Austin was the lucky lady given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to host an exhibit at the Lomography Gallery Store Los Angeles and her analogue project Everyone’s A Photographer is showing at the shop for the whole month of November!
She recently spoke to Cool Hunting about the exhibition—which includes artists Corey Smith, Jared Eberhardt, Jeremy & Claire Weiss, Natas Kaupas, Ian Ruhter, Danny Zapalac, Jason Lee Parry, Chad Muska and herself—and here’s what she said of the creative process:
Well, first I allowed each artist to pick a Lomography camera and film they wanted to use. And once the camera was in their hands, I gave them complete creative freedom and I told them to shoot whatever they wanted with it. I personally used the Lubitel 166+ because I’m a fan of square medium format images. I mainly explored around the area I live in Orange County because a large amount of my time was devoted to actually planning the opening, but it also created a fun challenge to make places that I see as ordinary, interesting.
